Nadja - Montsalvat Exhibiton 2010

Nadja
Made up of silk and organic materials.
She was a group creation by the women of 'Thou Art Mum'. Part of the 2010 Montsalvat Exhibiton "Dimensions of Motherhood".

Nadja has her baby strapped to her back. She represents the Earth Goddess.

Natasha's Dragonflies

Oil on Canvas. For Natasha, two gossamer winged dragonflies, so delicate just like dandelions.

Natasha Dancing

Oil on Canvas. Study of Natasha dancing.
I was mesmerized by her poise and elegance, even in those moments of repose.

Painting Assignment - Appropriation

My version of "portrait of the artist as an evolving landscape"
James Gleeson

In this exercise we had to choose a self portrait of an artist, copy it as close to the original as I could and then replace it with my own image in the same manner.

This is the one of me, it is still a working progress. Both of these paintings are painted in acrylics where as the original was painted in oil. James Gleeson's original is 152x204cm, mine are both 28x35cm. Following these two, my next task is to paint 7 off-springs, varying each one either by using a different technique, style or medium. To view James Gleeson's original follow this link this link.

Experimenting

Some of the works that I have now come consider my treasures are those that I decided to experiment on. They were the ones that led me off in new directions. Now I no longer fret when my work isn't turning out the way I want it.....I just then take the opportunity to do something radical. This painting was missing that something, until I let the ink run down her face. I now love it.
