Harmony in an interior

Harmony in an interior.

Harmony in an interior is the bond between people and the environment. In the chosen interior, harmony is represented in the relationship of sameness, connectedness and repetitiveness of the principles and elements within the space.

The design elements of colour, shape, texture and form has been applied to achieve a desired composition. A combination of natural light and the artificial floor accent lighting highlights the arched formations. The use of the artificial light source generates ambience in the otherwise stark and cold décor. In addition the reflected light on the shiny surfaces creates glamour and sophistication. On the right, the arches are further emphasised by the striking patterned trellis effect. From above there is an abundance of natural light streaming through the overhead skylight. The round shape of the skylights compliments the circular light fittings below them, making them both a feature in the room.

Minimal usage of material and the considered principals of scale, balance and proportion make the zones appear more spacious. Harmony and unity go hand in hand and is often referred to in the same sentence, here we see a perfect example of it. There is a structured order, symmetrical balance and the unified use of materials.

The triggered impressions when looking at this space are a correlation of importance, grandeur, class and luxury. Automatically we believe that the food and the service in this space would be expensive and it would be fine dining of the highest quality available. Harmony in this space can be described as a feeling and sense of calmness and well-being.
