Repetition in an interior

Repetition in an interior

This awe-inspiring sculptural interior is a great example of repetition.

The elements; of angular line, shape and pattern in tunnelling rhythmic repetition is used in this space elaborately. It follows a regular arrangement providing balance, unity and order. The use of a singular material also re-enforces the principal of repetition.

The umber stained and intricately patterned, domed canopy forces the eye to look up as it denotes a looming contrast pitted against the stark white walls and the arches. It is enticing and alluring, inviting you to walk through it. The brain registers familiarity in the cohesive fan-like abstract configuration and in turn likens and compares it all to a grove of palm trees. This interior takes inspiration from nature.

The enormity and deliberate use of scale in this work heightens the visual interest with a dramatic ‘wow’ factor. The sight evokes humility filling you with spiritual wonderment, indeed making you feel very small under the umbrella of grandeur. It is truly breathtaking.
